My diploma thesis

Deutsche Version

In particular from 1999 to 2001, I did my diploma thesis about the dynamics of rockfalls, aided by Prof. Schneider from the Institute of Applied Geology at BOKU - University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna and by Dr. von Poschinger from the Geological Survey of Bavaria (project: GEORISK).

Thanks to the blasting of a rock face above route 308 near Hindelang (Allgäu, Bavaria, Germany), I had the opportunity of taking video films of the resulting rockfalls (in total 70,000 cbm). The video films were taken by R.Lorenz of the Inst. of Alpine Natural Hazards and Forest Engineering (University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences). The purpose of my research is finding out more about rockfall phenomena, and improving their quantitative description by means of computer models (such as the program of GEOTEST (CH)).

The rock works were done by Gasser Felstechnik.

My complete thesis is available as an Adobe Acrobat document.>
